CHARACTER DESIGN PROJECT

For my character design class, I was tasked to create a character and concept art within 2 weeks, along with a convincing backstory that describes the world that they are in. These were the results of the project and I love talking about my process, so here we are.

First I had to come up with a concept. I only had a week to finish pre-production. I decided on a fantasy themed dancer axolotl with shrine maiden themes,

Then I had to craft a back story. Axolotls are asexually reproducing in this world. "Mothers" or a select few powerful axolotls have the ability to sing and induce sentience into normal wild axolotls.

My character was raised to be a shrine maiden "mother", the burden of the species was placed on her shoulders since she was a young axolotl, despite being born too weak to dance continuously for hours, which was required of mothers.

When she finds herself to be the only remaining Mother alive after a extinction event, she learns to use her power to breathe life into her planet again despite all obstacles.

This is her final character sheet. This was one of my most favorite assignments I worked on in this class and I'm happy to share I got an A!

Another CHARA DES PROJECT!!

My most favorite thing is talking about my process. I'd love to share another assignment where we had to create a human character design with concept art and a narrative.

Sierra works as a crystal weaver in the weapons manufacturing facility in her city that has been closed off from the outside monsters from a century. The outside is plagues with creatures from hell, and the city's walls and weapons keep them out.

One day she overhears her superiors talking about using the weapon Sierra has been creating from the past decade to wipe out all humans outside the city and size their resources.

Sierra runs off with the weapon she created to find her dad who she thought was dead years ago. But in reality, he was on the run from the city, and he did not yet know if Sierra had the crystal weaving powers yet by then. It ws a power that ran in their bloodline.

This is my final character sheet and I'm happy to report this was another A grade :))))
